“Since then it has done close to 2000 sea miles…….and she isn’t even 12months old. She spent Jan’ and Feb’ in Pittwater and on Sydney Harbour, and raced and cruised around The Broadwater, Gold Coast from March to August….
On August 12th she left Brisbane for Hammo Race Week and then the family holidayed on her a few weekends and all September school holidays. Her return trip departed Hamilton on 29th October and cruised back overnighting at Scawfield and The Percy’s on the way home.
The fishing was excellent, as well as a few Bonito and Spanish Mackerel, we landed and shashimi’d 3 Yellow Fin Tuna and just south of Great Kepple Island tagged and released 3 small black marlin.
The boat has handled 42 knots from the rear quarter and 32 knots on the bow, she has shown herself to be a fantastic cruiser and a worthy racer……We love her…” John Stuckey, owner.
Footnote: Ucan’ttakeitwithyou finished a creditable 2nd in the performance cruising division at Hamilton Island race Week. The owner made the trip up to Hamilton Island to race with a crew who had not yet sailed together.
“Our first race was not flash as we had not sailed together before. In race two we broke the spinnaker pole, but after that we never looked back. The crews from the other boats were amazed at our speed and pointing ability uphill. That’s what kept us in the chase. To be fastest boat in fleet was amazing. We were competing with teams with Mylar/ Kevlar sails and some super-sized kites, our largest working sails were the ones we ordered from the factory. The whole week was brilliant and a tribute to the crew and the Jeanneau design team. We ended the week with the highest handicap in the division – .860.”
The division covered a range of production yachts from Northshore 38s to a Bavaria 55. Some of the other yachts (with their handicaps shown) included a Bavaria 39 (.755), a Hanse 400e with kevlar race sails (.829), a Beneteau Sense 50 (.821), a Beneteau Oceanis 50 (.841), and a Bavaria 55 (.833).
